Ali woke to the sun baking her face. "Oh no!" She quickly jumped out of the bed and dressed in a dark green dress, it slid down to her thighs then leggins came out from under it, down to her feet, then she wore small padded slippers that would make no sound. She wore a mail shirt and a small fitted medal chest plate then her daggers slid in her hair which was braided long down her back.

She skidded into the throne room and smiled as everyone turned towads her. She but her lip wand walked down the path made for her to Tael and the King, she courtsied low and waited.

Tael smirked and chuckled as Alianna came down. Finally... He turned to his father and taped him on the shoulder. "Father...we are ready to go." The King nodded and signaled his guards. Allen turned to his son as they started walking. "Son...I feel my time is coming to an end. So...I want you to make a speech to the people." Tael's blood froze in his veins, his face becoming pale. "You...but...father..." But it was too late. They arrived at the town square, where almost everyone in town was gathered. Tael glanced back to Alianna, a look of anxiousness on his face.

Ali followed the group to the village then at Tael's look she stepped to his side, stringing her fingers with his, " What's wrong? You look worried." She leaned against his shoulder, "We're going to be fine. You've got me plus an army, psh. They have no chance." She looked up and smiled at him waiting for his answer.

Tael smiled, and looked at Alianna. "It's not war...War doesn't scare me. It excites me..." He trailed off, looking around as they neared the square. "It's...talking in front of these people. I hate talking in front of large crowds." Tael swallowed. Hard. "It's just...I hate it."

Alianna looked up at him, "You're scared of speaking?" She looked out over the crowd her father was among them. She tensed at his side, "Let me do it for you, or just remember I'm here. I'm..." she thought carefully and squezzed his hand, "I'm never leaving you, Tael. I don't care how many dresses I have to wear to the point of not breathing, how many table manners I have to learn, I will not leave you. I love you. I'll be here until you wish me gone." She looked up at him, "So in other words," she smiled playfully, "You are stuck with me and I won't let you be scared of talking to your people. They love you, even if you are having to take some of them to war. Your father changed this kingdon, you changed this kingdom. They respect you for it." She patted his back, "There's nothing to be scared of."

Tael smiled, and kissed Ali on the cheek. "I know. I know. It just scares me." Tael looked up as his father rose on a rather large platform set up in the square. Raising his arms, Allen began to speak. "My people! I know I have not been the king you all deserve. I see that now. I truly do." Allen took a breath.

"As you know, we now go to war with neighbors. War...It is never a pretty thing. I ask...I ask that you all stay strong. We shall prevail, but it is only through the people that we truly succeed. It is only through you that we truly win!" There was cheering after the king was done, but it subsided when he raised a hand.

"Now, my son, Prince Tael, shall address you. He shall be taking my place soon, and you all should know what he has to say." The king turned, and motioned to Tael. He gulped hard.

Ali had to stiffle a laugh as she heard Tael gulp. She loosed her hand from his and whisphered, "Just look at me." She left her spot and walked out into the crowd until she was in the dead center. She looked up at him and smiled as he came to stand beside his father. He can jump through windows, dance in the rain, save a girls life, sneak away from the palace, stand up to the most harsh king in years, but he can't speak to a crowd of people. She smiled then, amused by her thoughts.

Tael came to stand behind his father, looking out into the large crowd. As he appeared, they started cheering wildly, many people throwing confetti up into the air. He felt that familiar fear in his gut, and gulped again. He could do this...he could do this...

His eyes then fell on Alianna, and he smiled. The fear was gone. She was with him. That made it all better. Taking a deep breath, Tael raised his hands, motioning for the crowd to quiet. When they did, he spoke. "My people! We face a great threat on the horizon! In my absence, our allies have decided to take the advantage, and strike at our kingdom. But, I am back! Alongside my father, I will not allow these invaders into our lands! We shall hold them off, and secure our safety! This I swear!"

He said the last bit louder than the rest, causing the crowd to cheer even more. Throughout the endeavor, he had kept his eyes firmly on Alianna, and smiled once again. It was short, but it could have gone a lot worse. But he had Ali with him, and Tael felt invincible.

Ali smiled smally at Tael the whole time and when the crowd erupted in cheers, jumping and screaming, whistling, she stood still. The only thing not moving in the mass of excitement.

Her thoughts consumed her. It's funny, how your everyday life goes on and on. Like a repeat button everyday. You never think love will find you, never even really planned on it and then voila there it is. Like a flame drawing you to it's warmth.

She blinked, seeming to, for the first time, realize the crowd and the noise around her. She smiled, let out a whistle, her eyes never leaving the man she loves'. She slowly made her way out of the crowd, a ruff voice froze her as she took a step, among others, that would lead her back to Tael. "Ali.." the voice had said. Her small form turned and faced a face she'd seen everyday of her life until recently. " Father." She ran forward and hugged him, his massive hands wrapped around her shoulders and they stood in the embrace for a moment. He then leaned down to her ear, " You fight hard and come home." She smiled, a tear or two slipping down her cheeks. With a slap on the back he released her looked her in the eyes one last time and turned heading back to the Tavern.

Wiping away the few tears that had fallen Alianna turned back towards her previous path and to Tael's side. "See, you did very well."

Tael laughed nervously, shrugging and helping Ali onto his horse. Then, mounting the same horse, their little procession of armored men on horses moved out, passing the clapping crowd. "Well...it did go better than I expected..." He smiled, and held Alianna tight. "I guess I just had something to make me strong."

The line of horses passed the last of the dissipating crowd, moving out unobstructed onto the wide streets. "I wonder what the mountains will be like this time of year...I've only seen them once, and that was in summer."

Alianna shrugged in his arms, " I've never been outside of the village. The day I met you was the fatherest I've ever been." Her eyes scoped the mountain side and she looked up at him.

"If I can stand palace life..." she took a deep breathe, " Is there a way I can marry you?" Her eyes locked on his and her heart stopped as she waited for his answer.

Tael's heart skipped what felt like several beats, his eyes locked on Alianna's. Marry...me... He'd thought about it, but never really expected her to ask. It was always the male who was supposed to ask, always the male who was supposed to take that giant step. But, he was glad she did.

Tael face broke into a massive smile, almost ear-to-ear. Hugging her closer, Tael kissed Alianna. "Of course. Though, we'll have to get the idea past your father..." Tael looked up to the mountains, still smiling. He'd suddenly become very happy, and he couldn't hide it. "Marriage..." He looked down again, this time with his tongue stuck out, a twinkle in his eye. "Sounds fun."

Alianna smiled, so there was a way. Now if they both made it out of this war alive, maybe she'd have a future. One she wanted. The smile on his face made her own twist into the pleasant feature.

Dropping her eyes to the horse's mane she sighed, thinking of how long this ride would take. Not that she cared truly, she was with Tael, his arm tight around her. She could stay here for eternity, but already the effects of horse backriding were making themselves known.

Running or hiding to her destinations, Ali had never needed a horse, or rode one before. Now she knew that wasn't a bad thing at all, it'd saved her many days with a sore rear.

Tael smiled, and rested his head on Alianna's shoulder. For what seemed like eternity, he and Ali rode on with the column, the light of day slowly fading, and the darkness of night creeping in. The column kept riding on though. They'd stop later, when the moon was up. For now, the line of horses and men were led by torchlight.

Tael shifted, waking and opening his eyes. He'd fallen asleep on Alianna's shoulder. She was so soft...Smiling, he lifted his head, and kissed the back of her's. "Hey, you up?"

Ali smiled, "Yeah, I am. I've been talking to some of the soldiers." She smiled at a man who was riding off now, " They're worried. Also wanting to know what I was to you, and how you could allow me to come on this ride." She laughed lightly.

Turning she looked up at him, " I can't wait to sink my arrows into someone. The waiting is killing me." She fell against his chest, sighing.

Tael smiled, and rested his head on Ali's. "Well, that's better than someone else killing you, isn't it?" Smirking, Tael hugged Alianna close as the column finally came to a stop. Behind him, one of the captains yelled, "All stop! We camp here!"

Tael got down off of his horse, and held out a hand to help Alianna down. 'C'mon. We gotta find a good tent spot before they're all taken." Tael was smiling again.

Ali looked around as some of them watched her, then she rolled her eyes, took Tael's hand and slid of the saddle. She was expected to act like a lady even when war was soon to be had? Her mind then put two and two together, "We?" She said softly, and smiled smally, "We get to share a tent?" She raised an eyebrow and walked past Tael and started looking over the ruff land and woods slowly.

The scent of pines met her nose as a gust of wind blew her hair from around her neck. That was it though, no animals, no river, audible atleast, and no smoke, yet. Turning Alianna looked at Tael as he finished a conversation with a Captain.

Tael walked to a relatively open spot, moved the rocks and stray twigs out of the way, and looked back up to Ali. "Here, we'll set up the tent here." He smirked. "And yes, we. Unless, of course, you'd rather have a tent by yourself..." Raising an eyebrow, he walked past Alianna and to his horse, grabbed a small sack out of one of the saddle bags, and walked back to the spot he had reserved for the canvas shelter.

Ten minutes later, Tael had successfully set up the tent, and got their mats ready. Laying out the soft mats, Tael positioned them so that their heads would be near the open end of the tent, rather than their feet. You generally stayed cooler in the tent. It could get hot as hell in there.

Looking over his handiwork, Tael nodded and set to work on building as campfire. By that time, several other men had set up their tents and were setting about on gathering wood and twigs for the fire. A party had gone out earlier to hunt, and they were due back any minute. Tael then looked up, at the sky. It was a deep blue, and was quickly fading to black. It would be a pretty night.
